The Garden – Mirror Might Steal Your Charm (Epitaph Records)A record, that shows its true brilliance most when it’s played live. Nonetheless, every ocassion is fitting to let this album shine, be it a party, a roadtrip, or a party with yourself and your headphones on at 3am.
The Voidz – Virtue (RCA Records)Although it’s missing the experimental noise parts that made its predecessor a masterpiece, the new Voidz album still makes clear why Julian Casablancas is the best songwriter in our generation.
Ezra Furman – Transangelic Exodus (Bella Union)It’s not my favourite album of his (Perpetual Motion People is) and the religious themes and bible references on this record are a bit too much for my liking, but the album still shows a lot of evolvement und growth musicially and artistically. And „Love You So Bad“ is probably the best song Ezra has ever written.
The Growlers – Casual Aquaintances (Beach Goth Records)It’s a demo/b-side album, however, it is full of gems, „Pavement“ being the shiniest of them .
Mount Eerie – Now Only (P.W. Elverum & Sun)Do not listen to this album when you’re already depressed / sad / heartbroken / grieving. And also not when you are really happy and want to keep it that way.Because Phil Elverum’s intense reflections about his wife’s death make you feel like you, too, lost the person closest to you.
Beach House – 7 (Sub Pop)
Gengahr – Where Wildness Grows (Transgressive)
Tropical Fuck Storm – A Laughing Death In Meatspace (TFS Records)
Preoccupations – New Material (Flemish Eye)
First Aid Kit – Ruins (Columbia)
